Thomas J. Stanley, Ph.D, author of Millionaire Mind. Have you ever done research on 100 factors that determine a person’s success? The research was conducted in America with a total of 1001 respondents, of which 733 respondents were billionaires.
And it turns out that having a high/superior IQ, studying at a favorite school or a prestigious college is not included in the 10 main factors determining a person’s success. So, what are the main factors determining success?
It turns out that all of them are Soft Skills, including:
Honesty (Being honest with all people)
Honesty is a norm that must be adhered to by every individual. Honesty is the root of trust. So expensive. Vulnerable to making someone fall. The more we believe in a responsibility, the more rights (rewards) we can obtain. In the world of work, or in business, the more you are trusted by your superiors or clients, the more opportunities you have to pursue a career or develop your business, and success will come your way.
Hard discipline (Being well-disciplined)
Discipline is closely related to time management and consistency in steps to achieve future goals or vision. There are many temptations as we move forward. Sometimes the surrounding environment becomes a source that diverts focus from steps to realizing the vision. By instilling a disciplined attitude, every step we take will focus on achieving the target. Slowly and surely the targets that are always set will lead to the success you want to achieve.
Easy to get along with (Getting along with people)
The way we interact with other people in life is an important factor in achieving success. Each individual has achievement goals that are different from each other. The people around us can be helpers, or even obstacles in achieving success. There must be some kind of filter within you. Don’t let negative influences hinder you from achieving your goals. Increasing networking will also enrich ideas, and it is not impossible to create many collaborations that will support success.
Companion support (Having a supportive spouse)
The most meaningful support is support that comes from those closest to you. Apart from family, your partner is the most important person who can provide great support for your success. A study conducted by Washington University in St. Louis found that life partners who support each other are able to create a harmonious relationship, complement each other’s abilities, and are able to improve work performance, so that opportunities for achieving success will be wide open.
Work hard (Working harder than most people)
Working hard is not a visit us guarantee of success. But there will be results that differentiate hard workers from those who don’t, including how we are grateful for all achievements due to effort and hard work. Working harder than other people is closely related to the desire and discipline to achieve the targets you have set for yourself.
Love for what you do (Loving my career/business)
Career or business is a source of financial strength. If you want to be successful, you must cultivate a sense of love and loyalty to the work you do. “Employees can provide extraordinary performance or even 100% performance if they are loyal to the company,” said Joyce Gioia of The Herman Group, a consultant based in Greensboro, North Carolina. So when working or running a business, make sure you love what you are doing. So that performance and performance are maximum, resulting in maximum success for sure.
Leadership (Having strong leadership qualities)
In fact, the milestones of success are influenced by good leadership qualities, including how to lead yourself. Everyone must have a leadership spirit, depending on how to cultivate it and make it take root in each individual. Someone who has good and strong leadership qualities will find it easier to determine a vision, goals and structured actions that are highly accountable. Good leadership qualities in a person are able to guide him to produce thoughts and behavior that will become a habit in his daily life.
